Many performers have stayed at our Chicago hotel throughout the years, and few hotels can boast a guest list that includes Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Black Keys, to name but a few. As far back as the 1920’s, jazz musician Bix Beiderbecke lived in The Diversey Arms Hotel (historic name of the Days Inn Chicago) and performed at the Rendez-Vous Café located in the corner of the same building where other well-known artists performed.

Minimum check-in age is 21 years.

"Days Inn"

I have mixed feelings about staying here although I would give it a second chance. First off, it was being transitioned into a more retro, kitschy hotel called The Versey. The new decor was bright and fun. The renovators did a good job keeping things from being disruptive. The hotel is in a great location near restaurants, food and Wrigley field. The desk staff was helpful, but could have used more of them. Was often kept waiting while they multitasked guests, phones and renovators. The room I had was very small, but adequate for one person. If there hadn't been two of us it would have been tight quarters. The hotel was extremely clean and well kept. My biggest complaint was the high noise level. It was easy to hear other guests through the walls. Several nights guests could be heard arguing in the hallways. My room on the third floor was literally two steps from the elevator and the doors opening and closing all night made for very poor sleep. In hindsight I should have asked for a room change. The best part of the stay was the valet staff. Parking is expensive ($40/day with in and out service), however, the valets were prompt, courteous and helpful with directions. I used them several times a day over my 3 day stay and thought they were exemplary. Their service was top drawer! So the 3 star rating was mostly for the high noise and lack of sleep it resulted in. However, everything else was good and I would try them again with a different room next time.

"No free breakfast"

The property is nice enough and clean, but expensive. Free breakfast was listed on my confirmation but we were told it was not available due to remodeling. I consider this to be false advertising.

"Nice place overall!"

Overall, the place was NICE, it was a good experience. The renovations are excellent, the lobby and rooms are colorfully redecorated "Chicago style", and attractive. Well done! (much needed by the way) Staff was excellent, and usually valet parking in Chicago is a hassle but the guys our 4 days were quick to get things done and very pleasant. Hate to pay that much to park but at least got good pleasant service! Bathrooms NEED shelves for guests to store their necessary travel items we had two adults and we travel light but it was not adequate. We used the sill to the window. DO IT. Take my word for it... Also when the restaurant opens please include a breakfast option of buffet scrambled eggs and one meat (bacon, sausage, ham). Continental breakfast alone is not satisfactory for most of us. Free would be nice but at least offer eggs on the buffet line even if it is an additional charge.

"Need to finish remodeling"

See the title. Also, the breakfast has been eliminated (no great loss, really), but the remodeling could have been an opportunity to improve it. I didn't notice any change in rates to reflect this perk's disappearance. Further, there was no boarding pass printer. replacing this should have been an early priority.

"We were there during transition... Not pretty"

Days Inn was becoming Versey Hotel. The coffee pot in the room had no directions and hard to figure out how to use. I had to beg for a plastic drinking glass. All we got were expresso cardboard coffee cups. Tiny elevator for a big hotel. My daugher was kept awake all Saturday night because of a couple next door fighting. She had to call security twice. She was finally moved to another room. No comp from manger.
