As far back as the 1920’s, jazz musician Bix Beiderbecke lived in The Diversey Arms Hotel (historic name of the Days Inn Chicago) and performed at the Rendez-Vous Café located in the corner of the same building where other well-known artists performed.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! IF SOMETHING IS NOT WORKING IN YOUR ROOM THEY BLAME IT ON YOU AND CHARGE YOU! Booking this hotel is not worth any penny even if it’s the cheapest option you have with deceiving good reviews. My TV wasn’t working properly ( Google chrome cast ) so they offered me to move to another room so I had to move all of my belongings to a new room which was stressful. The next day my room key stopped working for some reason and after 3 visits to the front desk to get a new working room key they had to call a technician to fix the door but couldn’t (broken room key electronic reader on the door ) so once technician opened the door they told me to move to another room again! The same night I learned I needed to extend my stay for 1 more night though after everything happened I didn’t really want to honestly because I didn’t want to move all of my things again to another hotel and the old person on the phone was very rude to me and told me that I would have to pay for all of the damages I did to their hotel rooms and talk to the manager before the check out and I was not welcomed there anymore. It made me stressed out and I could barely sleep. On the day of the check out another front desk person said everything was ok and nothing about the need to see the manager in order to check out but still that I wasn’t able to extend my stay. I insisted to see the manager to discuss everything and maybe to hear some apologies for all of the stress they caused me , thinking maybe everything happened was some sort of a mistake or a joke and he’d give me some complimentary discount or something ( I also expected the hotel manager to be nice to me since that’s something you expect from a hotel manager at least ) however the hotel manager was not nicer than his staff to me and not professional. I learned from him that since they couldn’t prove that the damages were done by me the hotel wouldn’t press charges any further but still , even given so, he confirmed one more time that I was not welcomed there anymore ( I wouldn’t come back anyway at that point but was curious to hear the explanation and he was not able to say anything reasonable like how can someone break the electronic room key reader or tv device). Speaking of the hotel rooms , they are cheap , you can hear everything from the hallway, your hotel neighbors talking on the phone/ or talking in general or someone’s tv or any other noise , you can’t access anything without a room key and some of the hotel staff is rude and impolite. Plus they have security people everywhere which I find only disturbing and not necessary for this level hotel. I’m not coming back there ever again!

Hotel decor is spot on - very eclectic / modern. Elevator has bumper stickers that make you feel like you're on your way to go hang with Motley Crue. Rooms were spacious and clean. Bathrooms felt like they were from a different time in terms of size (very small). Check-in took a bit too long, but our bags were stored while we wandered the city.

"Great Location With A Friendly Staff"

I was there for three nights. The front staff was very friendly on all shifts that I encountered them. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was a bit high; sitting on it, my feet would not touch the ground. The only real issue I had was that voices carried very well through the wall. It is in a busy neighborhood. Lots of choices for good meals. There is a Trader Joe's across the street, a Walgreen's and Walmart within a block. It is a busy hotel on the weekends.

You walk into this hotel with garish,, hideous, ugly decor. There are kitschy bumper stickers all over the elevator. There is NO COFFEEMAKER in the rooms, just a stupid espresso maker. this is a mortal sin for a hotel. In our room, no microwave, no mini fridge. No suitcase stand.I only stay here because its close to where my daughter lives. They use to have free continental breakfast and a side room with vending machines with drinks and snacks. All gone. Valet parking $40/night.For the cost of the room you can get a hotel somewhere else with free breakfast and a COFFEEMAKER. I recommend Harveys B&B where you can stay in a professionally decorated room and be served gourmet breakfast in the morning for $133/night. This place sucks.

"Funky decor in lobby ... dated room"

Good location north of the city in a nice neighborhood with shops lining Diversey. Room 242 was smal; the "closet" was 'open air' ... kind of a shelf right in the room. The bathroom fixtures are in bad need of updating. Small lobby, no bar, no restaurant. Visa charge came via Day's Inn.
