"Good, not great."

I went on this bus tour with my husband yesterday and was...well...underwhelmed. We travelled around a couple of Chicago neighbourhoods on a bus and caught glimpses from the windows of some significant buildings (as well as the places where significant buildings used to be). We did have a chance to get off the bus at one point and look at a vault, a false wall, and some historical news articles on display in a restaurant that was a former mobster's home base. Overall, the bus tour was good, not great. The one thing that was really good was the storytelling and enthusiasm of our guide (I think her name was Sheila). Her storytelling brought the history and the mobsters vividly to life in my imagination. She made them real for me. She even included some of her own family history as her grandfather worked at the local court house. Overall, I'm not sure I would recommend this tour to others. The energy and enthusiasm of the guide can't really override the fact that this tour is just "meh." Maybe there is a better crime and mobsters tour available? I think it's worth investigating other options.

"Interesting, but a little too bussy for me."

We spend a majority of the time in a smaller bus. At night. With tinted windows. Ok so i am not a fan of bus tours to begin with, but if I have to look out the window at things, I want a clear view in the day time. The factual parts were fascinating as it melds in with the whole history of Chicago. Obviously they stop and get us out as a few interesting spots. More of a look and run type of tour. For me I would have loved it during the day time.

Everything about the tour was easy and organized. Our tour guide Mitch was excellent - amusing, informed and responsive to the odd question or comment. The sites and stopping places were very good. Mitch gave information that extended to more recent times/crimes, as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone. My teenage daughter loved it. Well worth the price. Get there early. Grab a seat near the front so that you can hear everything.

Mitch was the BEST. so fun, so informative and a great way to get around the city. I am a chicago native but I brought my boyfriend to visit for the first time and it was one of his favorite parts of the trip. It spurred us to look up more information afterwards and was overall a great experience.
